GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum sprinter Jordan Taylor and tennis player Leonie Floeth have been named the Zaxby's Athletes of the Week.
Taylor ran a wind-aided 10.30 seconds in the finals of the 100 meters at the Catamount Classic to break the school record of 10.31 seconds set by All-American Widchard Guervil at the Gamecock Invitational on Apr. 13, 2019.
Taylor also ran the leadoff leg in the 4x100 relay that won in a time of 40.29 seconds, a group that included senior Jarvis Barber Jr., senior Marquel Pittman and freshman Isaiah Olson.
Earlier this month, the Miami, Florida native set a career-best time in the 200 meters of 21.42 seconds at the Flames Invitational on April 7.
Floeth went 3-0 in singles and 4-0 in doubles to help the Pioneers win the SAC Championship and earn the top seed in the upcoming SAC Tournament. All three of Floeth's singles wins came against nationally-ranked teams, including a come-from-behind win against 15th-ranked Wingate on Tuesday.
In doubles play, Floeth teamed with freshman Ylva Frafjord Landa for four victories in four days, with wins over Newberry (6-1), Wingate (6-3), Emory & Henry (6-2) and Catawba (6-4).
The Toenisvorst, Germany native has a 17-10 overall record this season in singles and is 12-8 in dual matches, with an 8-3 mark in conference play. Floeth is 18-10 in doubles, playing primarily with Landa as the duo is 14-6 overall, 11-4 in dual matches and 9-3 in SAC competition.
