GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum basketball standouts Connor Jordan and Jami Tham have been named the Zaxby's Athletes of the Week. Tham earns this honor for a fourth time this season.
Jordan, a junior guard from Morristown, Tennessee, averaged 17.7 points per game while shooting 61.3 percent from the floor in leading TU to a 2-1 record. He recorded a pair of 20-point performances in leading Tusculum to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins.
He posted a career-high 22 points as the Pioneers rallied from a halftime deficit to a 71-67 win at Limestone. He followed with 21 points in a 79-66 home win over Mars Hill. He recorded three 3-pointers and went 6-of-6 from the free throw line. He also dished out five assists and hauled in four rebounds.
Jordan opened the week with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting against 16th-ranked West Virginia State in the championship game of the YES! Virgin Islands Classic.
On the week, he shot 6-of-9 from three-point territory (67%) and 9-of-10 from the free throw line (90%).
Tham averaged 22.5 points and 14.0 rebounds and extended her streak of consecutive double-doubles to 16 as the Pioneers remained atop the Mountain Division standings of the South Atlantic Conference. Tham shot 62.1 percent (18-for-29) from the field and 9-for-12 from the foul line despite playing the fourth quarter of both games with four fouls. Against Limestone on Wednesday, Tham had 28 points and 14 rebounds in an overtime loss to the Saints, while against Mars Hill on Saturday she finished with 17 points on 8-for-12 shooting along with a game-high 14 boards.
The Arlington, Virginia native leads the SAC and ranks second in Division II in rebounding (14.1 per game) and leads all Division II players with 16 double-doubles. Tham is second in the SAC in field-goal percentage at 58.1 percent and ranks fourth in the conference in scoring at 18.2 points per game.
