Chandley to serve as graduate assistant golf coach

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Former Tusculum University golfer Hunter Chandley has been named to the program's coaching staff with the Pioneers announced TU head coach Ross Cash.

Chandley will serve as a graduate assistant coach and will be responsible for helping in all facets of men and women's golf programs including instruction, practice organization, academic support and recruiting.

Chandley lettered on the TU men's team from 2016-2020 where he finished with a career scoring average of 78.70 which included three top-20 performances including one top-10 showing.

"Hunter has coaching in his blood and I am excited about seeing how the teams respond to his leadership. I have known pretty early on, that I have wanted Hunter to do the graduate assistant program because coaching really fits his personality," Cash said. "He is a very talented and charismatic leader that our teams will be lucky to have this year."

He graduated with honors from Tusculum in May 2020 with Bachelors of Science degree while majoring in physical education (K-12). The Johnson City, Tennessee native was a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and the TU Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

"I first want to thank God for leading me to where I am now. All the glory goes to Him for the continued blessings in my life," said Chandley. I also want to thank my family for always showing love and support. I am honored and humbled to be accepting this position and getting to work with Coach Cash in preparing our student-athletes to play solid golf. Coaching is something I have always had a passion for and this is an amazing opportunity for me."

During his prep career at Daniel Boone High School, he was a two-time All-Conference selection and led the Trailblazers to a pair of District and TSSAA Region titles in 2014 and 2015.

Chandley is enrolled in Tusculum's graduate school and is working on his master's degree in sports administration.
