Charkoutsakis, Wilson named Zaxby's Athletes of the Week

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University defender Georgios Charkoutsakis and guard Sydney Wilson have been named the Zaxby's Athletes of the Week.

Charkoutsakis, a junior from Heraklion, Greece, scored the match-winning goal with 6:10 remaining in Tusculum's 3-2 win over Queens University of Charlotte in the first round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.  TU trailed 2-1 in the second before getting a second goal of the match from Henrique Devens in the 71^st minute and Charkoutsakis' winner in the 84^th minutes. It was his third goal of the year and second match-winner in as many weeks. He also scored the winner in TU's South Atlantic Conference semifinal win over Carson-Newman University, 2-0.

Charkoutsakis earned a spot on the All-SAC second team, his second All-Conference nod in his collegiate career.  He and the Pioneers captured the SAC Tournament title for the second time in three years and a league-best seventh overall. TU also advanced to the NCAA Tournament where the Pioneers were edged on Sunday, 2-1 to top-ranked Young Harris.

Wilson, a senior from Greensboro, North Carolina, averaged 17 points, 3.5 steals, 2.5 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game while leading the Pioneers to a pair of season-opening victories at the SAC / Conference Carolinas Challenge.  She poured in 15 points and shot 4-of-5 from the floor and 6-of-8 at the free throw line in Friday's 64-49 win over Belmont Abbey.  She added 19 points in TU's 76-55 win over King University on Saturday. 

On the weekend, Wilson shot 57.1 percent from the field (12-of-21) and 80 percent (8-of-10) at the free throw line.
