GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum basketball players Donovan Donaldson and Mia Long have been named the Bojangles Athletes of the Week. The duo each earns this honor for a second time this season.
Donaldson, a junior from Nashville, Tennessee, averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as the Pioneers went 1-1 in South Atlantic Conference play. He poured in a game-high 16 points off the bench in Tusculum's 85-71 win at Mars Hill. In the game, Donaldson connected on three 3-pointers while also recording three rebounds, three assists and three steals. He followed with 17 points in TC's 79-72 overtime setback at Lenoir-Rhyne. Donaldson scored all of his points after halftime as he also tallied six rebounds and four assists. Donaldson is second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.0 points per game which is 11th in the conference while his team-best 4.2 assists per contest are fifth in the league.
Long, a sophomore guard from Ann Arbor, Michigan, averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists as the Pioneers went 2-0 last week. Long shot 5-for-8 from the field and had a career-high 11 assists to go along with 13 points, six rebounds and five steals as the Pioneers set a season-high with 15 three-pointers in the 98-68 victory at Mars Hill last Wednesday. Against Lenoir-Rhyne, Long shot 6-for-8 from the floor for 14 points and had five rebounds as the Pioneers picked up a 71-56 victory over the Bears last Saturday. Long shot 11-for-16 from the field in the Pioneers' two victories.
