Tusculum basketball duo named Bojangles Athletes of the Week

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College basketball guards Kendall Patterson and Callie Patterson have been named the Bojangles Athletes of the Week.

Kendall Patterson, a 5-10 senior from Burlington, North Carolina averaged 19.5 points per game while shooting a sizzling 10-of-15 from three-point territory in his two outings last week.

He opened the week by matching a career-high 27 points against Carson-Newman last Wednesday. In the game, he shot 9-of-16 from the field, including a career-best 6-of-9 from beyond the arch.  He also dished out four assists made two steals and hauled in three rebounds. He added a dozen markers on four 3-pointers in Sunday's game at Newberry.  He posted three steals as he played in only 16 minutes due to foul trouble.

On the season, Kendall Patterson is averaging 15.2 points per game (12^th in SAC) and leads the team in assists, dishing out 6.2 helpers per contest, which is the second highest average in the South Atlantic Conference.  He is also shooting 41.1 percent from three-point land and his 2.2 steals per game are second in the league.

Callie Patterson averaged 15.0 points per game for the Pioneers last week, scoring in double figures in both contests. She scored 13 points in 23 minutes off the bench in a 76-66 loss to Carson-Newman on Wednesday night, then matched her career high with 17 points in a 71-56 loss to Newberry on Sunday afternoon.  Patterson made a team-high three three-pointers and went 11-for-26 overall from the field, and shot 5-for-7 in the foul line in the two games. Patterson also had three assists and one steal while playing a total of 59 minutes.

For the season, the 5-7 sophomore from McLeansville, North Carolina is averaging 7.0 points per game while shooting 38.8 percent from the field and 68.4 percent at the foul line. Patterson is also one of two players to have scored in every game for Tusculum this season.
