
HARRIMAN, Tenn. --- Tusculum University's Tashianna Gray won the women's race at the Roane State Cross Country Invitational Friday evening.
Sophomore Simon Ray finished in sixth place for the Pioneer men at Friday's meet, which included competitors from host Roane State, Walters State and the Tennessee Running Club.
The Pioneers will return to competition on Friday, September 20 at the Eli Cramer Invitational, hosted by Milligan University.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Gray covered the 5-kilometer course in 20:56 to beat runner-up Kailee Rossman of Roane State to the finish line by 18 seconds. Freshman Sofia Cuesta Fuoss took fifth place in 22:13, with grad student Megan Humiston in 13th place at 24:08.
Grad student Alayna Suitte was 14th overall in 24:20, junior Victoria Caliendo took 16th place at 24:53 and sophomore Sadie Blue finished 22nd overall in a time of 30:33.
MEN'S RECAP
Ray was the top finisher for the Pioneers, coming in fourth place in the 8-kilometer event with a time of 29:35. Freshman Levi Carson took 14th place at 30:46, followed by senior Ryan Drysch in 24th place at 32:51.
Freshman Konnor Weaver placed 25th overall in 33:58, followed by freshman Jack Watson in 26th place at 34:18. Nathaniel McKee of the Tennessee Running Club was the race winner with a time of 29:00, 11 seconds ahead of teammate Cameron Overton.
