CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Jacob Cutshall and
Pauline Muiruri were the top finishers for the Tusculum College
men's and women's cross country teams at the Royals Cross Country
Challenge on Friday.
The 8,000-meter men's race and the 5,000-meter women's race
was held at the McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, North Carolina
and featured competitors from all three NCAA divisions. The TC men
finished 27th overall while the women were 29th. Both Pioneer teams
finished 17th among Division II teams.
Jacob Cutshall posted Tusculum's top time of 26:53.3, which
was his career-best 8K effort. Caleb Cutshall was just a few spots
back with a career-best time of 26:57.9 while Lawson Burrow was
TC's third scorer after crossing the line in 28:17.3.
J'Quen Johnson broke the 30-minute barrier for the first time
with a career-best effort of 28:45.0. Will Noel was the Pioneers'
final scorer with a time of 34:44.7.
On the women's side, Muiruri, the reigning South Atlantic
Conference Women's Runner of the Week, posted a season-best time of
20:46.1. Senior Paige Bible set a new career-mark with a 21:26.3
while Deondra Thomas also posted a career-best time of
22:07.1.
Ashley Andrukonis and Sierra Hanson were Tusculum's final two
scorers and also recorded their career-best times. Andrukonis ran a
23:05.4 while Hanson crossed the line in 26.17:9. Lillian Wallace
also competed for the Pioneers and posted a time of 26:49.6.
Today's even concludes the regular season for the Pioneers as
they will next be in action at the SAC Championship in Ewing,
Virginia on Oct. 24.
