TALBOTT, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's
cross country team won the 2015 Carson-Newman Invitational on
Saturday morning at Greene Farm in Talbott, Tennessee. The Pioneers
finished second in the women's event. Jacob Cutshall was TC's top
finisher on the men's side while Pauline Muiruri led the women's
effort.
Jacob Cutshall posted a 17:08.76 in the 5,000-meter event to
finish in second place, his top collegiate finish. Caleb Cutshall
came home fifth with a time of 17:47.94 while Lawson Burrow crossed
the line seventh with a time of 18:08.28.
J'Quen Johnson earned a 10th-place finish (18:40.10), his
first top-10 effort as a Pioneer. Will Noel posted a 19:17.81 to
finish 15th and become TC's final scorer. Cory Ramsey was 17th with
a time of 19:33.14 as all six Pioneers finished in the top-20 and
all had sub-20 minute efforts.
On the women's side, Muiruri finished fourth with a time of
22:02.62. Mackenzie Newsome ran a 22:42.64 to claim an eighth-place
finish while Lindsey Mank came home 11th with a time of
23:28.17.
Paige Bible finished 13th after posting a time of 23:36:15
while Deondra Thomas was TC's final scorer in 16th with a time of
23:52.70. Other Pioneer harriers in the event were Samantha Vogt in
20th (24:58.74), Ashley Andrukonis in 24th (25:08.50) and Lillian
Wallace in 31st (27:23.68).
Following an off weekend, the Pioneers will be back in action
on October, 3 at the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic in
Greensboro, North Carolina.
