
NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University women's volleyball senior Madison Adkins has earned Volleyball Player of the Week honors, courtesy of the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
This is Tusculum's first honoree of the season and the first of Adkins' career. She also earned conference laurels earlier this week.
Adkins, a setter from Olive Hill, Kentucky, led the Pioneers to a pair of sweeps last week, blanking Emory & Henry and Coker. Across the six sets, she averaged 11.5 assists per set for a total of 69. Adkins also added four kills, two service aces, 15 digs, and five block assists.
Against the Wasps, the TU setter dished out 37 assists and went 3-for-7 on her attempts for a .429 hitting percentage. Highlighting the home match versus the Cobras were a pair of aces and three blocks to 32 helpers.
On the season, Adkins is averaging 8.51 assists per set for a total of 553.
The Pioneers (7-10, 5-4 SAC) sit sixth in the SAC standings and will face top-two Wingate on Friday (Oct. 18) night.
