
ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University women's volleyball senior Madison Adkins has earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the South Atlantic Conference office in conjunction with WePlayed Sports on Monday (Oct. 11).
This is Tusculum's first honoree of the season and the first of Adkins' career.
Adkins, a setter from Olive Hill, Kentucky, led the Pioneers to a pair of sweeps last week, blanking Emory & Henry and Coker. Across the six sets, she averaged 11.5 assists per set for a total of 69. Adkins also added four kills, two service aces, 15 digs, and five block assists.
Against the Wasps, the TU setter dished out 37 assists and went 3-for-7 on her attempts for a .429 hitting percentage. Highlighting the home match versus the Cobras were a pair of aces and three blocks to 32 helpers.
On the season, Adkins is averaging 8.51 assists per set for a total of 519.
The Pioneers (7-9, 5-3 SAC) jumped to fifth in SAC standings after their perfect week. TU faces two of the top three teams in the league this week: Carson-Newman (Oct. 15) and Wingate (Oct. 18), who is receiving votes in the latest national poll.
