LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Tusculum University's Emiah Burrowes and Madison Adkins earned All-Southeast Region laurels, which were handed out by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Wednesday (Nov. 23). Burrowes was tabbed to the first team, while Adkins was named to the honorable mention squad.
This marks three-straight campaigns that Burrowes has garnered recognition by the organization.
Burrowes, a graduate student from Wesley Chapel, North Carolina, has had a stellar career as a Pioneer. She has earned league honors in each full season at Tusculum The outside hitter registered a team-best 346 kills (3.64 per set), 245 digs (2.58 per set), 23 service aces (.24) and 31 total blocks (.33 per set) after playing in all 95 sets thus far in 2023.
Burrowes sits third in the TU record book in career kills per set (3.37), total attempts (3,567), and attempts per set (9.01), while ranking fourth in career kills (1,336), and 11th in hitting percentage (.222). She is only 45 digs away from a 1,000/1,000 career.
Adkins, a junior from Olive Hill, Kentucky, has had a standout season in her new role as TU's top setter. She became the 13th setter in program history to record 1,000 assists, with 829 (9.01 per set) coming this season. Adkins has also tallied the second-most aces on the squad with 38 (.41 per set), while adding 60 kills, 214 digs, and 50 total blocks across 92 sets.
The Pioneers (22-6) are on a 10-match winning streak entering the NCAA II Southeast Regionals. TU will play Peach Belt champion Augusta University in the opening round on Friday, December 1, hosted by Wingate University.
