Tusculum jumps to sixth in NCAA region poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The Tusculum University women's volleyball team made the move up to sixth in the second week of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings, through matches of Nov. 12.

The Pioneers have reached the 20-win plateau for the 10th time since joining DII, including twice during the Danielle Marante era. TU brings in an eight-match winning streak into Wednesday night's SAC Tournament semifinal against Anderson.

Wingate (24-2) earns this week's top spot, followed by Augusta (24-4), Lander (23-3), and Anderson (24-4). USC Aiken (16-9) is fifth, ahead of Tusculum, Emmanuel (18-10), and Lenoir-Rhyne (20-9). Mount Olive (20-9) and North Greenville (23-6) are on the outside looking in.

The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections on Nov. 20.

The Southeast Region consists of volleyball programs from the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference. Each league in the Southeast Region will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament and will be joined by five at-large teams to comprise the eight-team Southeast Regional which will be held Nov. 30 – Dec. 3 at campus sites.
