GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College head
volleyball coach Michael Robinson has announced the signing of
Kayla Hartley of Mishawaka, Indiana as one of the final members of
the Pioneers' incoming 2015 class.
Hartley joins Victoria Dierickx of Greenville, South Carolina,
Melissa Mazur of Chicago, Illinois, and Ally Soldati of Lenoir,
North Carolina as Tusculum signees from the most recent spring
signing period.
Hartley is a 5-5 libero and will don the orange and black
after lettering for four years at Mishawaka High School and playing
for the Northern Indiana Volleyball Academy. She was selected as a
team captain and earned the Mishawaka's Defensive MVP award as well
as All-Conference honors.
Hartley recorded a career-best 28 digs in a match this past
season and also had 10 aces in one contest. Off the court, she was
a four-time scholar athlete.
"Kayla has consistently played at a very competitive level and
will make a seamless transition to the collegiate level," Robinson
stated. "She is an extremely consistent defender with above average
court awareness. We expect her contribute to our defense
immediately."
Hartley and the three other spring commitments join early
signees Cassie Born and Madison Shumaker as the six members of TC's
highly touted 2015 freshman class.
Tusculum will be looking to build off its ninth-straight
winning season and its fourth place finish in the South Atlantic
Conference in 2014. The Pioneers return two All-SAC performers from
last season and a pair of seniors.
