
--- Tusculum College's Caitlyn Dean and Megan Hasse are listed
in the final 2013 NCAA Division II volleyball statistics.
Dean, a senior libero/defensive specialist from Fort Wayne, Ind.,
finished seventh in the nation with her 6.03 digs per set average,
marking the fourth time in her career that she placed in the top-10
nationally in that category. She was crowned the NCAA II national
statistical champion in digs per set in her freshman (2010) and
junior (2012) seasons.
In 2010, she averaged 7.1 digs per set, which is currently the
fourth highest in DII history. The Northrop High School graduate
finished that freshman season with 845 total digs, presently second
most by a NCAA II player.
She finished third in the land in 2011 in digs, averaging 6.45 per
frame while tallying 684 total digs on the year.
In her junior campaign, Dean accounted for the best defensive
season in DII history with her 932 digs, which are second most for
all NCAA divisions since 2008 utilizing the 25-point scoring format
with unlimited libero substitutions (record is 933 by Kasey
Roseser, Ohio Northern-NCAA III). Dean's 7.77 digs per set average
in 2012 was also a DII-record (2nd most for all NCAA
divisions).
Dean, a three-time Daktronics All-America first team selection, is
NCAA Division II's all-time leader in career digs with 3,184, which
are the eighth most for all divisions. Dean also led the South
Atlantic Conference in digs all four seasons at Tusculum.
Hasse, a junior outside hitter from Kingston Springs, Tenn.,
finished 30th in the country in service aces per set tallying 0.48
per frame. Hasse has led the SAC in aces in each of the last two
seasons. Her average is the fifth-highest in TC history and her 56
total aces are also fifth in the program record book. The Harpeth
High School graduate has accumulated 111 career service aces so
far, the seventh most in TC history. Her 0.37 aces per set average
is currently third at Tusculum.
Dean and Hasse both earned All-SAC recognition in 2013 as the
Pioneers accounted for a 21-11 record, including 15-7 in conference
play to finish second in the league standings for the third time in
the last four years. TC earned the program's fifth straight NCAA II
Tournament at-large bid as the Pioneers advanced to the Southeast
Regional quarterfinal.
TC posted the program's eighth consecutive winning season and the
sixth 20-win campaign in the last eight years. Tusculum has
recorded 20 more wins on 22 occasions in the storied program's
history.
