
INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College is listed fourth in this year's first installment of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings. The Pioneers are one of five South Atlantic Conference teams listed in this year's inaugural poll.
Wingate sits atop this year's initial ranking, while Armstrong is second, followed by Lincoln Memorial, Tusculum and Newberry to comprise the top-five. Lenoir-Rhyne is sixth, followed by Francis Marion, Belmont Abbey, Flagler and Montevallo.
Tournament champions of the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament. There will also be five at-large bids to the NCAA postseason, which begins Dec. 5 at campus sites. The NCAA II Elite Eight will be held Dec. 12-14 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Tusculum (17-7, 12-5 SAC) is in quest of its fifth straight NCAA Tournament berth. TC is currently in second place in the South Atlantic Conference and is riding a five-match winning streak.
The Pioneers return to Friday night to face Newberry in a South Atlantic Conference match beginning at 7 p.m. Friday is Senior Night as Caitlyn Dean, Ashley Sarmiento and Kassie Voelker will be honored in ceremonies following the match.
