
INDIANAPOLIS --- For a fourth consecutive year,
the Tusculum College volleyball team has earned an at-large berth
to the NCAA Division II Championship with the announcement of the
64-team national field.
The Pioneers (22-7) will be the No. 4 seed in the Southeast
Regional and will face fifth-seeded Lincoln Memorial University
(21-13) in a quarterfinal match on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. at
the Aquatics & Recreation Center on the campus of Armstrong
Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga.
The host Pirates (32-5) are the top seed in the regional for the first time ever and will welcome seven other schools from Nov. 29 - Dec 1. Armstrong, the Peach Belt Conference Tournament champion will host Conference Carolinas champion and No. 8 seed Belmont Abbey College (26-4) at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 29.
Third-seeded Flagler College (22-10) will face No. 6 seed
Newberry College (18-14) to tip-off the regional at noon on the
29th. South Atlantic Conference champion Wingate University (29-2)
will meet seventh-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne University (19-11) at 2:30
p.m. in the second match of the day.
Friday's semifinal matches will be at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. with the
Southeast Region championship match taking place at 4:00 p.m. on
Saturday.
Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, $3 for students with valid ID and $2 for children 12 and under for each day of action.
All seven matches will be available online via www.armstrongpirates.com with live stats and live webcasts.
The winner of Saturday's region championship match advances to the 2012 NCAA Division II Volleyball Elite Eight in Pensacola, Fla., on December 6-8.
