ANDERSON, S.C. --- Sam Underwood recorded eight kills, eight digs and two blocks to lead the Tusculum College volleyball team to a three-set sweep over Anderson University Friday night at the Abney Center. The Pioneers (17-9, 10-6 SAC) won the match by scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-19.

TC setter Ashley Sarmiento guided the Tusculum offense with 29 assists, to go with her .600 hitting percentage (6-0-10). Freshman Megan Hasse added six kills, 10 digs and two blocks while Caitlyn Dean led all players with 29 digs as the Pioneers complete the season sweep over the Trojans (14-12, 5-10 SAC).

Anderson's Shannon Gillespie accounted for nine kills and 17 digs, while Marlie Bryant and Tiffany Rowe finished with five kills each. Bryant also tallied a dozen digs, while setter Meghan Cautero dished out 26 assists and nine digs in the loss.

Trailing early 7-4 in the opening set, Tusculum rattled off a 16-5 run to take a 20-12. The final four points of that run came on back-to-back service aces by Hasse and a kill each by Underwood and Bailee Price. Price would clinch the frame with an ace on set-point in a 25-16 win.

In the second set, the two teams battled early to a 13-13 tie. The Pioneers scored the next two points on a pair of AU attack errors and would not trail again in the set as TC prevailed 25-19.

Tusculum raced out to a commanding 10-4 lead in the third set following a kill by Sarmiento. The Trojans answered with a 10-3 run to take the lead at 15-14 on a TC service error. With Tusculum trailing 15-14, the Pioneers closed out the frame with a 12-4 spurt that included a 6-0 run, sparked by two kills each from Sarmiento and Natalie Gaudreau as TC won the set 25-19.

Tusculum finished the night, hitting .211 as a team, while limiting Anderson to a .068 attack percentage.

The Pioneers will close out its South Carolina road trip on Saturday with a 1 p.m. league match at Newberry College.
