INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College is ranked sixth in this year's first installment of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings. The Pioneers are one of six South Atlantic Conference teams listed in this year's inaugural poll.
Two undefeated teams sit atop the region rankings with Armstrong and Wingate holding down the top two spots, respectively. Flagler is third, followed by Lincoln Memorial, Catawba, Tusculum, Carson-Newman, Lees-McRae, Lenoir-Rhyne and USC Aiken.
Tournament champions of the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament. There will also be five at-large bids to the NCAA postseason, which begins Nov. 17 at campus sites.
Tusculum (16-9, 9-6 SAC) is in quest of its third straight NCAA Tournament berth.
The Pioneers are back in action this weekend for a pair of league matches in South Carolina. Tusculum will be at Anderson on Friday night at 7 p.m., followed by Saturday's 1 p.m. contest at Newberry.
