GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Head coach Michael Robinson and the Tusculum College volleyball program has designated this Tuesday's match versus Carson-Newman College as "Dig For the Cure" Night at Pioneer Arena beginning at 7 p.m.

Tusculum is one of many colleges and universities in the country that have dedicated a home match to raise money for breast cancer research. This marks the sixth year that the Pioneers have participated in this program.

Participating schools designate one home volleyball match in October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Individual sponsors pledge money per dig earned by their team in the match, or can make a flat donation to the cause. The money raised goes directly to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's local affiliate in their community.

Fans are asked to wear pink to Tuesday's match.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Today, the Foundation is an international organization with a network of volunteers working through local affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure® to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.
