The Tusculum College volleyball team is a recipient of the 2005-06 Game Plan/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award announced College officials.
The award honors collegiate teams which have displayed
excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30
cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
The Pioneers posted a 3.358 team GPA and was one of only 31 NCAA Division II schools to earn this honor. Tusculum was the only South Atlantic Conference member to be recognized and one of only seven colleges in the State of Tennessee to earn this accolade (Tusculum, Tennessee-Martin, Memphis, Christian Brothers, Rhodes, King, Lee).
The Pioneers, under the direction of first-year head coach Nathan Baker, will open their season Aug. 29 when they play at King College.
