
GAFFNEY, S.C. --- Limestone University won the final three singles matches and took a 4-2 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Saturday afternoon.
The Saints (3-8, 2-4 SAC) won the doubles point but fell behind 2-1 in singles to the Pioneers (1-10, 0-6 SAC) before winning the last three matches to clinch the victory.
In doubles, the team of Samira Butt and Thilda Danielsson beat Emmy Humphries and Maria Fernandes by a 6-0 score at flight three, but the Saints won the other two matches to take a 1-0 lead over the Pioneers.
Butt collected a 6-0, 6-0 win over Humphries at flight six, and Valeria Diaz beat Fernandez 6-0, 6-0 at flight five as Tusculum went up 2-1 in the match. However, Limestone won a pair of matches in straight sets to regain the lead at 3-2, and Galilea Amavizca beat Ylva Frafjord Landa 6-7, 7-5, 6-0 at flight two to give Limestone the win.
The Pioneers are slated to host seventh-ranked North Georgia in a non-conference match on Monday, March 24 at 1 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
