
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Lincoln Memorial University defeated Tusculum University 4-1 in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Tuesday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Railsplitters (9-7, 1-2 SAC) took two of three doubles matches to earn the team point, then won four of the five completed singles matches from the Pioneers (0-6, 0-3 SAC).
In doubles, the Pioneers picked up a win at flight one as Ylva Frafjord Landa and Elodie Baechler defeated Rosalie Carrier-Dulac and Lucie Palud by a 6-2 score. However, the Railsplitters won the deciding match at flight three 6-4 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
In singles, Lincoln Memorial went up 2-0 as Alexandra Ortiz beat Jimena Rivera 6-3, 6-0 at flight six. Landa got the Pioneers on the board at flight one as she beat Marta Melnichenok 6-2, 6-2 at flight two, but Adriana Pellizzarri downed Valeria Diaz 7-5, 6-3 at flight three and Mann-Ning Le beat Samira Butt 6-4, 6-4 at flight five to clinch the win for the Railsplitters.
Tusculum will return to action on Wednesday, March 12 at 1 p.m. when the Pioneers host the University of Indianapolis for a non-conference match.
