
CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- Lee University claimed a 5-0 victory over Tusculum University in non-conference women's tennis Sunday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center.
The Flames (3-0) earned a sweep of doubles from the Pioneers (0-2) and picked up four victories in singles to clinch the match win.
Tusculum nearly pulled off an upset at flight one of singles, as Elodie Baechler took the first set from Ashleigh Simes before the second-ranked player in Division II rallied for a 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-3 win. The Flames won the other three completed matches in straight sets.
The Pioneers, who were playing their first match in 20 days, will ramp up their schedule starting Thursday, March 27 with a non-conference contest at Lees-McRae beginning at 1 p.m.
