Pioneers tumble 6-1 to Charleston in spring opener

HARROGATE, Tenn. --- The University of Charleston collected a 6-1 victory over Tusculum University in non-conference women's tennis Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Memorial University.

The Pioneers (0-1) won one of the three doubles matches, as Elodie Baechler and Ylva Frafjord Landa defeated Filippa Larsson and Sara Martinez by a 7-5 score.

In singles, Baechler picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory at flight one over Michelle Connor for the Pioneers' lone point against the Golden Eagles (5-0).

Tusculum will visit Western Carolina for an exhibition match on Monday at 2 p.m. before resuming their spring schedule on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Milligan.
