GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University picked up a 7-0 sweep of Mars Hill University in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Tuesday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
The 43rd-ranked Pioneers (11-5, 5-2 SAC) did not lose a set in singles or doubles against the Lions (0-13, 0-8 SAC), with four set victories coming by 6-0 scores.
In doubles, Valentina Loretz and Elodie Baechler defeated Elana Mackey and Amalie Anderson 6-3 at flight one, Ylva Frafjord Landa and Paulina Loretz beat Lilah Dean and Alizee Grube 6-0 at flight two, and at flight three Johanna Palacio and Johanna Selde picked up a 6-4 victory over Lauren Schave and Gracie Arrowood.
The Pioneers clinched the match with wins in the first three singles contests, as Paulina Loretz defeated Dean 6-1, 6-2 at flight four, Palacio downed Hannah Frazer 6-1, 6-4 at flight six and Valentina Loretz took a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Anderson at flight two.
Tusculum closed out the match with Landa shutting out Schave 6-0, 6-0 at flight three, Baechler defeating Mackey 6-0, 6-2 at flight two and Thilda Danielsson collecting an 8-7 (7-4) pro set win over Grube at flight five.
The Pioneers are currently scheduled to host Carson-Newman on Thursday, April 4 at 2 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex, weather permitting.
