GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Limestone University came away with a 5-2 victory over 38th-ranked Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Sunday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Saints (11-4, 4-2 SAC) swept doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the match, then won three of the first four completed singles matches against the Pioneers (9-5, 3-2 SAC).
Trailing 1-0 after doubles, Tusculum picked up its first point at flight two as Valentina Loretz earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Monika Temkova. However, a three-set win by Limestone at flight six put the Saints ahead 3-1. Limestone won the next two singles matches, including another three-set victory, but Tusculum closed out the afternoon as Ylva Frafjord Landa defeated Anastasiia Khriapko in a tiebreaker by a 5-7, 6-2, (10-5) score.
Tusculum will return to action on Friday, March 29 at home against Lenoir-Rhyne, beginning at 1 p.m. The Bears, currently ranked 48th in Division II, are in second place in the SAC with a 5-1 record entering the week.
