HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team wrapped up play on spring break with 5-2 victory over Quincy University at Chaplin Community Park.
The 41st-ranked Pioneers (7-3) won four of six singles matches to capture the victory over the Hawks (5-6), after winning two of three doubles contests to take the team point en route to their fourth straight victory.
In doubles, Paulina Loretz and Ylva Frafjord Landa teamed up for a 6-2 win over Steffi Lao and Ana Alvarez at flight two, while at flight three Thilda Danielsson and Johanna Selde beat Katrin Ismailova and Anna Matino by a 6-4 score.
In singles play, Valentina Loretz beat Lao 6-0, 6-1 at flight one and Elodie Baechler defeated Mahi Panchal 6-4, 6-1 at flight two to give Tusculum a 3-1 lead. Johanna Palacio beat Alvarez 1-6, 6-1, (10-4) at flight five, and Selde was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over Matino at flight six.
The Pioneers will resume their South Atlantic Conference schedule on Saturday, March 16 at Coker beginning at 1 p.m.
