Pioneers receive ITA All-Academic honors for 2022-23 season

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team has been honored for its academic success by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the 2022-23 season.

The Pioneers were among 97 women's tennis programs in Division II honored by the ITA as an All-Academic Team, with nine team members receiving Scholar-Athlete recognition. Tusculum's women's tennis team had the highest cumulative grade-point average among the Pioneers' 23 athletic teams, with a 3.82 GPA for the 2022-23 season.

ITA Scholar-Athletes must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year, with ITA All-Academic Team recognition based on a team GPA of 3.2 or above. Across Division II, a total of 623 women were honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2022-23 season.

Tusculum women named to the ITA Division II All-Academic Team were senior Chelsea Daugherty, juniors Paulina Loretz, Valentina Loretz and Johanna Palacio, sophomores Elodie Baechler, Leonie Floeth and Tabitha Howe, and freshmen Ella Boddington and Erin Laubscher.

The Pioneers were ranked 23rd in the final ITA Division II poll of the 2022-23 season, going 17-7 overall and earning a share of the South Atlantic Conference regular-season championship with an 11-1 record.
