ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University's Emilie Hansen has been named the 2022 recipient of the South Atlantic Conference Elite 20 Award for women's tennis announced league officials Thursday. Hansen earns this honor for a second consecutive year.

This award honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade point average (based on a minimum of 48 credit hours) in each of the league's 20 team championship sports.

Hansen, a senior from Hvidovre, Denmark, has a 4.00 GPA while majoring in business administration and information technology.

She was named to the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's At-Large Academic All-America® third team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She is a member of the Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll, SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, President's List, Dean's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List and is an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

In 2021, Hansen and doubles teammate Amber Lackey earned All-SAC second team accolades in doubles play as the duo went 13-2 and finished 16-7 all-time. This year, she has a 15-11 doubles record to improve her career worksheet to 58-29.

She swept both the Tusculum Female Freshman Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year Academic Awards in 2019. She is also a member of the ITA All-Academic Team and the Division II Athletic Directors Association Honor Roll.

Tusculum (13-6) has advanced to the SAC Championship quarterfinal round where the Pioneers are the No. 5 seed and open with fourth-seeded Newberry.
