ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University's Emilie Hansen has been named the 2021 recipient of the South Atlantic Conference Elite 20 Award for women's tennis announced league officials Thursday.
This award honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade point average (based on a minimum of 48 credit hours) in each of the league's 20 team championship sports.
Hansen, a junior from Hvidovre, Denmark, has a 4.00 GPA while majoring in business/information technology.
Hansen and No. 2 doubles teammate Amber Lackey earned All-SAC second team accolades in doubles play this season as the duo is 13-2 this season and 16-7 all-time. Hansen also went 11-8 in singles play this year including 8-4 in SAC matches.
She swept both the Tusculum Female Freshman Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year Academic Awards in 2019. She is also a member of the ITA All-Academic Team and the Division II Athletic Directors Association Honor Roll, all during the 2019-20 season.
Tusculum (11-7) has advanced to the SAC Championship semifinal on Friday and will face 18th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte at 9 a.m. from the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina.
