GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team defeated King University 7-0 in the lone dual match of the fall season for the Pioneers Wednesday at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Pioneers (1-0) lost just five games in singles and swept all three doubles contests by identical 6-0 scores against the Tornado, who were playing the match as an exhibition.
In doubles, the team of Annie McCullough and Caitlin McCullough beat Marylin Roustand and Lauren Smorgonsky at flight one, Africa Mota and Julia Lopez won over Anna Mincey and Vanessa Francois at flight two, and Emilie Hansen teamed with Darina Mueller for the sweep of Isla Bell and Murphy Harr at flight three.
In singles, Annie McCullough defeated Mincey 6-1, 6-1 at flight one, Caitlin McCullough downed Roustand 6-0, 6-0 at flight two and Lopez was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Francois at flight three. At flight four, Hansen won 6-2, 6-0 over Smorgonsky, and pro sets were played at flights five and six, with Mota beating Bell and Mueller winning over Morgan Buchanan by identical 8-0 scores.
The Pioneers will play their second of six fall tournaments on Saturday and Sunday at the Western Carolina Invitational.
