ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University junior Annie McCullough has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week in women's tennis for the week ending March 24, the conference office announced Monday.
McCullough led the Pioneers to SAC wins over Carson-Newman (6-1) and Newberry (5-2) by winning two matches in both singles and doubles, helping 45th-ranked Tusculum to improve to 4-0 in conference play this season.
In the win over Carson-Newman on Wednesday, McCullough had a 6-1, 6-2 win at number-two singles and teamed with sister Caitlin for a 6-2 win at number-one doubles. Against Newberry, the Belfast, Northern Ireland native did not drop a game as she won 6-0, 6-0 at top singles and 6-0 in doubles.
McCullough is 8-2 in singles and 9-1 in doubles for the Pioneers this season, giving her a career dual-match singles record of 44-6 and a doubles mark of 47-15.
The Pioneers (8-2 overall, 4-0 SAC) visit 23rd-ranked Queens University of Charlotte for a key SAC matchup on Wednesday at 1 p.m., followed by a trip to Lenoir-Rhyne on Friday and a non-league match with Bluefield State on Sunday at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
