FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. --- Tusculum shut out Emmanuel 9-0 in non-conference women's tennis action Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers (2-0) swept doubles play from the Lions (0-1) as Franziska Funke and Katarina Majorova teamed for an 8-2 win over Fantine Botella and Chloe O'Connor at flight one. At flight two, Annie McCullough and Caitlin McCullough downed Katharina Kiderlen and Maria Raich by a score of 8-1, while at flight three Brittani Brooks and Amber Lackey bested Pearllan Cipriano and Victoria Silva by an 8-2 score.
In singles, Lackey gave the Pioneers a 4-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Kiderlen at flight five, and Majorova delivered the clinching point with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Botella at flight one. Caitlin McCullough also had a straight-set win at flight three, defeating Raich 6-2, 6-4.
The Pioneers also had three pro set victories in singles action, with Annie McCullough beating Cipriano 8-5 at flight two, Funke defeating Silva 8-2 at flight four, and Brooks winning 8-1 over O'Connor at flight six.
Tusculum will play its lone home match of the fall season when the Pioneers host King on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
