
TEMPE, Ariz. --- The Tusculum women's tennis team is 39th in the latest Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Women's National Team Rankings, the ITA announced Wednesday.

Tusculum is in the rankings for the fourth consecutive season after opening the season with a 10-3 record, including a 5-2 victory over then 35th-ranked Northwood on March 7. All three of the Pioneers' losses have come to ranked opponents -- NAIA number-one ranked Georgia Gwinnett, 22nd-ranked West Alabama and 36th-ranked North Georgia.
The Pioneers are one of three South Atlantic Conference teams in this month's rankings, joined by Wingate (33rd) and Queens University of Charlotte (50th). Another ranked opponent is on the upcoming schedule, as the Pioneers will visit 38th-ranked Young Harris on Thursday, March 30.
Tusculum, which is eighth in the latest ITA Division II Southeast Region rankings report, has been ranked in each of the last four years, reaching as high as 39th in 2014, 31st in 2015 and 44th last season.
The Pioneers (11-3, 6-0 SAC) will host a pair of matches at the Nichols Tennis Complex this weekend, as Newberry visits Saturday at 1 p.m. and Coker visits Sunday at 2 p.m.
