HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- Tusculum College picked up its second win of the day Tuesday evening with a 5-2 win over Palm Beach Atlantic University.
The Pioneers (8-3) won their fifth straight match by winning two out of three doubles contests against the Sailfish (3-5), then capturing three of four singles matches to clinch the victory.
In doubles, Katarina Majorova and Franziska Funke needed a tiebreaker to edge Leoni Polzin and Valerie Nagovitcina 9-8 (7-1) at flight one, while Annie McCullough and Jule Brass downed Taylor Conti and Maja Jovic 8-4 at flight two.
In singles, Majorova defeated Polzin 6-2, 6-0 at flight one and McCullough beat Conti 6-3, 6-0 at flight three to give the Pioneers a 4-2 lead. Africa Mota then delivered her second clinching point of the day with a 6-2, 7-5 win at flight four over Romina Bolagay.
Tusculum will conclude its three-match Spring Break trip to Hilton Head on Wednesday morning against Davis & Elkins.
