Western Carolina University swept singles play from Tusculum
College and earned a 7-0 victory in non-conference Women's tennis
action Wednesday afternoon.
The Division I Catamounts (10-6) also won two of the three doubles
contests to earn the point from the Pioneers (11-3), who earned
their victory at flight two as Kealee Heffner and Erin Mills beat
Megan McLinden and Nicole Nielly 7-6 (7-5).
At flight two, Franziska Funke battled McLinden before falling 6-1,
4-6, 6-3, while Sarah Baker took the first set from Elizabeth
Ansari at flight five before falling in a tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-2,
(10-6).
The Pioneers will return to their South Atlantic Conference
schedule on Saturday at Anderson, beginning at 2 p.m.
