The Tusculum College Women's tennis team moved up three spots to
44th in the latest Oracle/ITA Division II National Team Rankings,
released Wednesday.
The Pioneers defeated Northwood University, then ranked 19th in the
nation in Division II, by a 6-3 score on March 8 in one of three
matches played against ranked opponents during the last poll
period. Northwood fell to 23rd in this month's poll.
Tusculum's other matches against ranked teams were a 5-4 loss to
Indiana (Pa.) on March 7 and a 5-4 loss to Wingate on March 18.
Indiana moved from 38th to 36th in this month's poll while Wingate
fell from 35th to 39th.
A fourth ranked opponent, Queens University, climbed from 45th to
42nd in this month's poll. The Pioneers currently lead the Royals
3-1 in match that was suspended by rain on March 5 and will be
completed on April 15.
BYU-Hawaii moved from second to first in this month's rankings,
followed by Barry, Saint Leo, former number-one Armstrong State and
Lynn in the top five. The complete rankings can be found here.
The Pioneers (10-2, 2-1 SAC) return to action on Saturday at Coker
in a SAC match that begins at 2 p.m.
