
ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College senior Erin Mills has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week in Women's tennis for the week ending March 13, the conference office announced Monday.
Mills went 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles as the 47th-ranked Pioneers defeated 19th-ranked Northwood 6-3 and Kutztown 9-0 during spring break action at Hilton Head, South Carolina last week. The win over Northwood represents the highest-ranked opponent that Tusculum has defeated in program history.
The Duluth, Georgia native did not lose a set in any of her three singles matches, including wins of 6-1, 6-1 against Sophie Butland of Indiana (Pa.), 7-5, 6-3 against Anna Aniskina of Northwood and 6-0, 6-0 versus Jessica Burns of Kutztown. In doubles, Mills teamed with Kealee Heffner for wins of 9-7 against Raquel Gonzalez and Rachel Wood of IUP and 8-0 over Yasmeen Malik and Vicki Norman of Kutztown.
Mills has a perfect 10-0 record in singles and is 9-1 in doubles for the Pioneers, who bring a 9-1 overall record and 1-0 conference mark into Tuesday's league match against Catawba. Start time is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
