GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Kate Hutchinson earned the decisive point in the 31st ranked Tusculum College women's tennis team's 7-2 victory over Newberry College on Sunday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

Hutchinson was victorious in the fourth singles spot after being honored by Tusculum (13-1, 5-1 SAC) head coach Tommy Arnett on Senior Day prior to the match. Erin Mills picked up a win in the second position over Newberry's (14-5, 5-3 SAC) Vanessa Ortiz (6-1, 7-5).

Franziska Funke came back to defeat Amanda Carrillo (7-5, 5-7, 10-5) in three sets at number three. Adrienne Kaye cruised past Rebeca Martinez (6-1, 6-0) in the fifth spot, while Sarah Baker earned a win at six after Kelly McManus was forced to retire from the match.

On the doubles side, Funke and Amanda Sumner narrowly topped Ortiz and Carrillo 9-8 (7-4) in the top flight. Hutchinson and Emily Waters had little trouble with Martinez and McManus (8-1) in the third spot.

The Pioneers will be back in action on Tuesday when they play host to rival Carson-Newman University beginning at 1 p.m.
