
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum women's
tennis team pushed its winning streak to 10 in a row with
Saturday's 8-1 South Atlantic Conference victory over Catawba at
the Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Pioneers (13-1, 4-0 SAC) swept the three doubles matches, while
picking up five singles wins, including Adrienne Kaye's 6-2, 6-2
decision at No. 5 singles for the match-clincher.
Kate and No. 2 doubles partner Erin Mills won 8-5 over the Catawba duo of Maddy Henderson and Lauren Sledd. Kate Hutchinson and Kealee Heffner defeated Liz Renteria and Sloan Kessler 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. TC's Amanda Sumner and Emily Waters also recorded a point with their 8-2 decision over Alli Prior and Olivia Myers at the third flight.
Sumner earned the first singles point of the contest with her 6-2, 6-2 win over Myers at No. 6 singles. Kaye followed with her win over Prior at the fifth flight.
Heffner won her No. 4 singles battle with Sledd, 6-3, 7-6, while Sarah Baker and Hutchinson followed with straight set singles victories for the Pioneers.
Catawba (10-10, 2-4 SAC) picked up a point at No. 1 singles as Renteria defeated Mills 6-2, 6-2.
Tusculum returns to action next Saturday when the Pioneers travel to SAC newcomer Coker for a 2 p.m. match in Hartsville, S.C.
