
The Tusculum College Women's tennis team defeated Lenoir-Rhyne
University 9-0 in a South Atlantic Conference match Saturday
afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Pioneers (12-3, 4-1 SAC) lost a total of 12 games in singles
against the Bears (0-10, 0-8 SAC) en route to their sixth win in
seven matches.
Tusculum jumped to a 3-0 lead in doubles as Kate Hutchinson teamed
with Adrienne Kaye for an 8-1 win over Kelsey Love and Ivey Tant at
flight one, Taylor Patterson and Erin Mills defeated Amanda Bryan
and Meaghan Liner 8-0 at flight two, and at flight three Emily
Waters and Amanda Sumner improved their season record to 10-2 as
they downed Lacey Lapp and Maggie Brown 8-2.
In singles, Hutchinson defeated Love 6-0, 6-1 at flight one and
Patterson clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Tant at
flight two. Mills was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Lapp at flight three
and Waters defeated Brown 6-3, 6-2 at flight four. Rounding out
singles action, Kaye was victorious over Bryan 6-0, 6-0 at flight
five and Megan Buckmaster won 6-1, 6-0 at flight six over
Liner.
The Pioneers will host Lincoln Memorial on Thursday at 2 p.m. at
the Nichols Tennis Complex to open a stretch of four league matches
in six days.
