
ROCK HILL, S.C. --- With two close doubles wins
and Taylor Patterson's victory at No. 4 singles gave the
third-seeded Tusculum a 5-0 victory over No. 6 seed Lincoln
Memorial in a quarterfinal round match of the 2012 Food Lion South
Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Championship, Thursday morning
at the Rock Hill Tennis Center.
With the victory, the Pioneers (17-3) advance to Friday's semifinal
against No. 2 seed Anderson at 9 a.m.
Tusculum's Holly Verner and Katelyn Doss at No. 1 doubles and Megan Buckmaster and Kate Hutchinson at the third flight, each earned 8-6 doubles wins to earn crucial points. Courtney Conley and Patterson earned an 8-4 win at the second flight to stake the Pioneers out to a 3-0 lead entering singles play.
Hutchinson cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles and Patterson's 7-5, 6-2 win at fourth flight ended the match.
