
Tusculum College junior Courtney Conley has been named the South
Atlantic Conference Player of the Week in Women's tennis for the
week ending March 11, the conference office announced
Wednesday.
Conley went unbeaten at flight three singles and flight two doubles
to help the Pioneers to a 3-0 record during their Spring Break trip
to Hilton Head, S.C., extending the team's winning streak to six
matches. She won two of her three singles matches in straight sets,
and teamed with Taylor Patterson in doubles for three
victories.
In a 6-3 win over UNC Pembroke, Conley posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory in
singles and an 8-5 triumph in doubles. Against 50th-ranked Ashland,
Conley won in a super tiebreaker in singles and claimed an 8-4
doubles win as the Pioneers won 5-4. Conley capped the week with a
6-1, 6-4 victory in singles and a 9-7 win in doubles as the
Pioneers downed Northern Kentucky 6-3.
Conley leads Tusculum with an 8-1 record in singles, including
seven straight wins, and she has combined with Patterson for a 6-1
mark in doubles play, with victories in six consecutive
matches.
The Pioneers (8-1) open their SAC schedule this weekend with
matches at Newberry on Friday and Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday.
