GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Anderson University posted an 8-1 victory over Tusculum College in South Atlantic Conference Women's tennis action Sunday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex. The Trojans moved to 8-4 overall (6-1 SAC) with the win, and the Pioneers dropped to 9-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play with the setback.
The Trojans swept all three doubles pro sets, as Camie Beaulieu-Brunet and Shelby Anderson teamed for an 8-5 win over Courtney Conley and Taylor Patterson at flight one, Avery Owens and Lauren Trumbull downed Kristen Keefer and Katie Hillis 8-1 at flight two, and Marcela Gallegos and Julie Halbert posted an 8-4 victory at flight three over Megan Buckmaster and Blake Thompson.
In singles play, the Pioneers scored their lone point at flight six when Gallegos retired in the first set while holding a 4-2 lead over Hillis.
Anderson's five singles victories came from Beaulieu-Brunet at flight one by a 6-1, 6-0 score over Conley, Owens defeated Patterson 6-2, 6-0 at flight two, Trumbell doubled up Buckmaster 6-4, 6-4 at flight three, Anderson knocked off Keefer 7-5, 6-3 at flight four, and Emily Weiland posted a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Thompson at flight five.
The Pioneers are scheduled to return to action Thursday afternoon with a non-conference match at Converse beginning at 3 p.m.
