GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Taylor Patterson
has signed a national letter of intent to attend Tusculum College
and play tennis for the Pioneers announced TC women's coach
Tommy Arnett.
Patterson played her prep career at Lexington High School in
Lexington, S.C. where she starred at No. 1 singles for Coach
Michael Sacks. The two-time All-State selection was the 2009 Region
Player of the Year and 4A Area Player of the Year. She also
garnered All-Area and All-Region honors and received an invitation
to play in the North-South All-Star Classic.
"Taylor will come to Tusculum with a very mature game as a
freshman," said Arnett. "She has an excellent baseline and net game
and will be a tremendous addition to our program."
She is a two-time Top 20 Illinois High School Sectional Champion
and State qualifier. She also attended the prestigious van der meer
tennis camp.
Patterson has been active in her community where she recently
served as a coach and referee for the 2009 Special Olympics
National Championship in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Tusculum women's tennis team posted a 17-6 record, including a
perfect 8-0 in South Atlantic Conference play to capture the
program's fourth SAC Championship. It was also Tusculum's ninth
straight winning season as the Pioneers earned their seventh NCAA
Division II Tournament berth.
Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated
with the Presbyterian Church and is a NCAA Division II member of
the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges
and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South
Carolina.
