TUSCULUM Women's TENNIS BEATS KING 9-0

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women's tennis team remained undefeated on the season with its 9-0 win over King College Friday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex. The Pioneers improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Tornado (0-1) fall in their season opener.

The Pioneers dropped on five games on the afternoon, while posting its third consecutive shutout in as many matches.

Tusculum opened with three doubles victories, including an 8-0 pro set win by the No. 1 doubles duo of Danae Valderrama and Samantha Cantu, as they defeated King's Morgan Smith and Callie Haring.

The Tusculum pair also posted straight set wins in singles competition. Valderrama won 6-0. 6-0 over Smith at the No. 1 flight, while Cantu was victorious 6-0, 6-0 over Haring at No. 3 singles.

The Pioneers also got singles wins from Jennifer Sparks, Bronwyn Hartley, Caroline Crowe and Amanda Pike.

Tusculum returns to action Saturday morning when it hosts No. 20 Francis Marion University for an 11 a.m. contest at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
