
MARS HILL, N.C. --- The Tusculum College
women's soccer team scored three goals in the opening 12 minutes en
route to a 3-0 South Atlantic Conference victory at Mars Hill
University Saturday afternoon at Meares Stadium.
The Pioneers (8-5-1, 4-3-1 SAC) record their fifth straight victory
and third consecutive shutout. The Lions fall to 3-11 overall and
1-7 in league play.
Tusculum's Taylor Lewis got the scoring-barrage started at the 4:37 mark of the match as she scored on a breakaway for her team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Less than a minute later Carly Mill found the back of the net after getting the ball on a turnover by the Mars Hill goalkeeper at the 5:17 mark.
Mill scored her second goal of the match and sixth of the season, which was assisted by Katja Andersson in the 12th minute as Tusculum led 3-0.
Tusculum keeper Miriah Martin recorded her second straight shutout and fourth of the season as she finished with three saves on the day. MHU starting keeper played the first half while tallying three saves. Tori Stajduhar took over in the second half and recorded 45 shutout minutes with a save.
Tusculum returns to action on Wednesday as the Pioneers travel to Belmont Abbey College for a 3 p.m. non-conference contest against the Crusaders.
