Tusculum Women's soccer blanks Coker 2-0

HARTSVILLE, S.C. --- Taylor Lewis recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Tusculum College women's soccer team to a 2-0 South Atlantic Conference victory at Coker College Saturday afternoon.

Tusculum (9-6-1, 5-4 SAC) dominated possession of the ball for majority of the match as the Pioneers out-shot the Cobras (5-11, 3-7 SAC) by a 27-5 margin, including 15-1 in shots on goal.

Lewis recorded her team-leading eighth goal of the season when she found the back of the net in the 28th minute, which was assisted by Gabrielle Whitt.

Freshman Payton DeHart added an insurance goal at the 52:25 mark for her fourth scoring tally of the year. Lewis notched her third point of the match with an assist on DeHart's goal.

Lewis led all players with eight shots, including seven on frame. DeHart accounted for five shots on goal, while Courtney Hackney posted three shots in the contest.

Marissa Williams posted one save, while recording her fourth shutout of the season. Coker net-minder Lizz Morris made 13 saves on the afternoon in the loss.

Tusculum will travel to arch-rival Carson-Newman University on Monday for a 7 p.m. match in Jefferson City, Tennessee.
