Nyssa Garrison ● F ● Cincinnati,
Ohio/Mount Notre Dame HS
Garrison was a three-year starter for head coach Doug Conway Mount
Notre Dame, earning second-team All-Star honors in 2011 and 2012.
She tallied a total of 19 goals over the last three seasons,
including four goals and three assists this past year. Garrison
played club soccer for the Ohio Elite Soccer Academy and head coach
George Frankenstein. She plans to major in criminal justice at
Tusculum.
"Nyssa will add the element of pace to our attack. She played for a
very successful high school and club program that will prepare her
well for the competition she will see here in the SAC and the
Southeast Region," said Joy. "We were hit hard with graduation this
past season in our attack and we are very excited to have a quality
attacker like Nyssa to add to our young arsenal of incoming
freshmen strikers and midfield players."
Lindsey Kelly ● F ● Knoxville, Tenn./Karns
HS
Kelly earned four letters, was a two-year captain and set the
school career record for assists at Karns High School. She was a
first-team All-Region honoree in 2012, after earning first-team
All-District honors in both 2011 and 2012. An all-around athlete,
Kelly also lettered in tennis, track and dance team at Karns. She
played her club soccer for the F.C. Alliance Soccer Club, and plans
to major in education at Tusculum.
"Lindsey came to the Joy of Soccer Camp this past summer and I had
the opportunity to see her for a week of training. She is a 5'8"
striker who has great presence, and she understands that scoring
goals is being able to anticipate where the ball will be, not where
it is," said Joy. "She places her self in position to score goals.
We are excited to add another quality striker after losing three to
graduation after last season."
Olivia Kilgore ● D ● Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak
Hills HS
Kilgore was a four-year starter at Oak Hills High School, helping
lead the Highlanders to an unbeaten record in 2012 with only seven
goals allowed in 18 matches. Kilgore was named second-team
All-Ohio, first-team All-Southwest Ohio, first-team Greater Miami
Conference, and first-team All-City by the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Kilgore also lettered three years in basketball and currently ranks
second on the team in scoring and first in assists this season, one
year after being named honorable mention All-City. Kilgore plays
club soccer for Tri State Futbol Academy, and plans to major in
psychology at Tusculum.
"Olivia is the third All-State player I have recruited from Ohio.
The other two, Tara Henderson and Rachel Barron, were both
All-Region players for us and are members of our Women's soccer
Wall of Fame," said Joy. "We have big expectations for Olivia and
believe she will make a huge impact in our defense."
Kelli McCalla ● STR ● Austin, Texas/Lake Travis
HS
McCalla enters her senior season as a two-year letterwinner for
head coach Jeff Gamble at Lake Travis High School. As a junior, she
helped the Lady Cavaliers earn an Class 4A area championship last
spring. McCalla was invited to represent Team USA for the American
International Sport Team U19 squad last year. She played club
soccer for North and South Lonestar Soccer Club under coaches Steve
Allison and Alex Tapp. McCalla plans to major in pre-physical
therapy at Tusculum.
"Kelli is an awesome physical striker that will give us a different
look offensively, as she will be able to match up well against some
of the teams in our conference that are very strong and physical
defensively," commented Joy. "We graduated a lot of goal scoring
with Tramicka James and Kim Brown and we are excited to have Kelli
to help us. We expect her to help us rebuild our attack this
year."
Hannah Riddle ● D ● Greeneville,
Tenn./Chuckey-Doak HS
Riddle moved from defense to offense this fall and earned Region
1-A/AA Offensive Player of the Year and All-State honors after
scoring a school-record 34 goals for the Lady Knights and head
coach Anna Ricker. Riddle also plays basketball and softball at
Chuckey-Doak and was an All-Region selection in basketball. She
plans to major in education at Tusculum.
"Hannah has been a star at defense and more recently in the attack
as she was moved up top as a senior. We expect her to most likely
settle into our defense as we graduated an All-Region defender in
Kourtney Kavic this season and have three seniors in the lineup
next season," said Joy. "Hannah will likely be the fastest player
on the team as she runs a 4.79 seconds in the 40-yard dash."
Ally Rines ● MF ● Jefferson City,
Tenn./Jefferson County HS
Rines played midfield at Jefferson County High School and was a
team captain for the Lady Patriots. She has extensive experience at
the local and club level, including two indoor club teams in West
Knoxville as well as Team Venom from Knoxville. Rines plans to
major in pre-physical therapy at Tusculum.
"I had the opportunity to see Ally as her high school team was
competing in District play. She is held in very high regard at
Jefferson County and she played club soccer in Knoxville for Maggie
Barta, a former player of mine at Tusculum," noted Joy. "Ally will
help by providing much-needed depth in our veteran midfield which
has two rising senior starters in Monica Perez and Amy
Neltner."
Shannele Sunderland ● STR ● Georgetown,
Texas/Lighthouse Christian School
Sunderland is a striker for the 95 Lonestar Red team that finished
fifth in the Premier League and is currently ranked third in the
South Texas rankings. She has scored over 100 goals with 32 assists
in the last four years, including four hat tricks. She plans to
major in pre-physical therapy at Tusculum.
"Shannele is a quick aggressive dynamic striker. She makes great
runs off the ball, opening herself up to receive through balls, and
just has a nose for the goal," Joy said. "She transitions quickly
into defense, and by pressuring the other team she can gain a lot
of opportunities from turnovers. I think she will complement
returning striker Taylor Lewis along with our other signees as we
look to rebuild our attack this season."
